Dare I talk about immigration?
By Trevor Cooper
When you look at Thanet and it’s History, you will see that it is a fantastic mix of many nations going back many years that generally get on well together. If there’s trouble in Thanet it tends to be hooded white boys who dislike Goths or similar children who don’t fit their norm. This is bigotry too is wrong and needs to be stopped but this isn’t an immigration issue. Anyone who knows me or remembers me from my school days will know I’m against bigotry. I was a member of the Anti Nazi League selling rock against racism badges in the playground of St Georges School. So why talk about Immigration?
The Issues
Speed of immigration.
When populations are encouraged to move in vast numbers there’s an adverse effects on many. Firstly if, like in Poland, you remove 600,000 people from its country in one year (The Guardian September 2006) it must affect the country they left. Skill shortages, devalue of property and deterioration of properties that become vacant. The countries that gain people then have to adjust their infrastructure to accommodate them. Ones infrastructure has to provide homes. Britain and the South East is now having to build homes in large numbers all across our greenbelts and with water supplies inadequate to cope and no sign of overall long term planning this seems ludicrous.
Vetting of immigrants.
I caught on the news last night that the government intend to create a points system for those wishing to enter the UK. Of course this is a good idea UKIP have been arguing this point for some time but they are only applying this to those coming from outside the EU. If you want to come to the UK then you need to be appropriately vetted.
Genuine Refuges
When a Nation such as ours and the US interfere and invade other nations you then become responsible. When people from IRAQ arrive on our shores we have to welcome them. It is our responsibility we all have to give up a little of our wealth to support the victims of Labour policies we elected the government and we have to meet the cost.
Responsibilities
If UKIP fail to establish power and control of its borders and the other parties continue to nod to European dictatorship then why doesn’t the EU foot the bill for the cost; we have given them billions of our pounds and we still have to pick up the bill housing everyone.
My next move is to speak to immigrant help to solve problems we need to be well informed and I intend to understand as much as I can.
Please feel free to comment.

Thanks Trevor, keep up the good work, I still say to be out of the EU is the only way.
Where has our democracy gone, perhaps UKIP should have a slogan like “Democracy, Democracy, Democracy” - must be better than Labour’s “Education, Education, Education”
