Before you read his e-mail and hopefully look at the link site of UKIP, I would like all of you to please think about what fish you eat. Cod Haddock and Plaice are all officially endangered species. Please consider eating the following fish instead Hokki, Saithe, Coley and Pollock. Pressurise your supermarkets to provide alternatives to Cod people have the power to change the what supermarkets sell. It’s a simple choice. Boycott Cod Haddock and Plaice.

From Trevor Cooper

Dear Colleagues,

This is to inform you that UKIP’s Fishing Paper is now available on the UKIP website, following an ‘official’ launch by Nigel at the South West Exeter rally.

The new policy paper ‘A Sustainable Fishing Industry’ is available for download on the website at url address:
http://www.ukip.org/ukip/images/stories/pdf/fishing_policy.pdf

As with our ‘Energy and Environment’ Paper, it is designed in such a way as to allow easy ‘printing’ off onto a colour printer for use by prospective candidates and for the media, and for use as a reference for letter and article writing. The format also allows us to update policy papers easily with developments over time.

I am very grateful to Peter Wyatt and Bob Gotts for all the work and expertise they have put into the paper, Nigel for his personal interest in this subject, and the policy group. The paper has been previewed in fishing related media with some success. As you will see, the EU costs us at least £2.5 billion in fish alone every year.

The next policy paper launch will be following in early April.

Best wishes,

David

David Campbell Bannerman

Deputy Leader and Head of Policy

Firstly this is not another go at the giant eyesore that is intended to be built in Margate temping though it is. No I just want to share with you the evening I spent at Walpole Bay this Wednesday and make a couple of comparisons.
Firstly The weather was perfect hot with a light breeze providing sufficient relief from the heat. The sea was very still and most of the earlier crowds had departed. You may have already guessed what I am intending to speak about. The sky was beautiful watching the changing light in the clouds off the coast as it changed from various shades of red and orange was a privilege. When we got home we discovered a programme on telly looking at a sunset off the Greek island of Santorino. Hundreds of people were there just watching the sun go down. I promise you Margate’s sunset was better. The clouds in the sky although few had formed majestic patterns that looked like a sheet of ice that had been danced on by an ice skater then covered in a thin wash of red and orange paint.
Santorino though is a beautiful place. During my own visit there this year I particularly remember a gentleman picking up the rubbish that tourist and locals had left on the beach which he placed neatly on a hard standing off the beach. My comparison here is that I too picked up five carrier bags of rubbish left by our tourist and locals. This included nappies lots of plastic bottles and crisp packets. Much of this polution would have endeed up in our seas. Our schools are trying hard to educate the next generation to respect our environment, yet many of Thanets parents are happy polluting. This is our planet look after it, love it, save it, protect it and give our children parents to be proud of.

My Wife suggested we take the open bus top tour of Thanet towns, as it may be quite interesting. But as we thought about it the tour could be quite weird.
If we start at Nayland Rock the tour goes as follows.
The Hotel on your left is a refuge home and only last year, 2007, did an immigrant fall to his death from a window. Now on your left you pass a toilet block this is almost identical to the Turner Contemporary due to be built some time this next decade but much larger and uglier and without any local artist work unlike the toilet block. The ugly tower block on the right is to remain ugly because the owners say they cannot afford to paint it and make it look respectable. The carbuncle of concrete shopping arcade is very full of contemporary graffiti. It has an advantage over a near by shopping centre as it has a roof. Also on your right is Dreamland amusements and Cinema. The amusements have been closed for some time and the cinema closed when a new more expensive out of town one was built. Still looking right you may be able to see a scenic railway. It is unique but due to a surprise fire it has lost a large section of the middle and is now totally useless. The gap in the buildings on your right I believe was also a fire accident. Thanet’s burning building is one of the main attractions today in the three towns. On the left we have Margate sands a beautiful beach and the location of a recent stabbing. Back on the right is the Tivoli amusements alas and not really a surprise it is fire damaged. If we go up passed the beautiful Clock Tower. We have now reached Cecil square and for you tourist who have looked for the Library in Margate the call it The Gateway or something similarly bizarre. We wont be turning right why we have Hawley square and the latest fire damage location but instead we turn left where we pass a genuine Tudor restoration on your right, please take time to visit. Going up the hill towards Cliftonville shopping centre we pass the very picturesque memorial gardens and we do have a good selection of wedding shops on our right as we approach Northdown Road. Turning left we pass the Quarterdeck on our right. Many youth activities take place hear such as youth clubs and martial arts and on the left we have a casino. As we turn right we pass the site of the Lido on ones left and on our right is Atherston Road a one of the many Margate murders. The toilet block further up on your right was also a murder scene in 2007. Going back up to Northdown Road you will notice the large number of closed businesses that is the Business can not compete with the free parking massively supported shopping centre at Westwood Cross. We now pass on your right the Time tunnel Amusements and one of the flats close by was a 2008 murder and the scene of a recent assault on a policeman.
I forgot to mention Margate Caves not open despite them being there a long time something to do with health and safety. So why is Cheddar Gorge and Wookie Hole always open? Finally please support the Shell Grotto.

There isn’t a sane man or woman out there who honestly believes Gordon is going to get another spell as PM and why should we. The man is without policy or vision and the man who will be created as the one who surrender our sovereignty and lead us into the worse recession since WWII. OK we are not there yet but with fuel spiralling out of control, increasing in cost greater than 20%, and food prices on many items increasing by 25% plus then the future is very dim.
Why is it the only answer on fuel is to ask the Saudis to produce more fuel. That is so short sighted its fool hardy. So what can he do?
Firstly he could reduce the fuel duty at the pumps by say 10p yes I know it’s gone up by far greater but if he was so drop it by any more the government debt would rise uncontrollably. What he looses in direct duty will be compensated by the increase he makes from VAT. He can’t go to the EU for a rebate because they to are going into recession and will want every English pound we can give them and are giving them.
So what would 10p do it would ease the pressure on further prices rises.
What else could he do.
An immediate stop to all immigrants entering this county, oh yes I remember we can’t because it’s not a policy the UK have any power over. Then I guess there is no point going on as the EU governs so much of policy making that I guess he really can’t do anything.

A recent report in Yourthanet local newspaper reported on the failure of the PCSOs.
Most people would agree, more real police on the beat would be preferred. The cost of replacing the PCSO in Thanet is quoted at £3 million. Unfortunately the bobby is so tied down with administration that they are not finding time to fight crime. I’m sure if the admin burden could be eased some of this money could be found. How many parents in Margate have been to the police to report assault on there children? How many children have been assaulted and not reported the crime. How many children that have committed these crimes are still walking the streets unpunished! How many hours have these parents waited to see a policeman to take the report! A report does not require a police officer just a good admin assistant to ensure that the reports make sense. Is traffic more important than our children? Police and traffic, could not crime fighting and traffic violations be separated? And could the priority list be re-hashed to fight crime. Children in Thanet are forming gangs who commit assault after an assault, but government wish to criminalize wheelie bin abusers and take petty crimes more seriously.
Lets ease the admin burden on the police.
Lets get priorities and sentences right.
Lets get more real police out there fighting crime.
Separate traffic from real crime.
Lets ensure violent crime is taken more seriously
And lets elect honest government.
If we elect crooks what role models do the children have to follow!

You may have noticed recently the absence of news recently; sorry I have been away and been unable to put any news on the web site, well I am back and reporting.

Some differences between the UK and Greece, Santarino.
The first difference most obvious was the weather temperatures of around 30 degrees C with a high of about 35 made a pleasant change.
Prices on food to buy in the shops expensive apparently the oil cost have effected the price at the tills there too.
VAT however is only 6% which makes me ask why are we paying 17.5% were we not told we had to have VAT in line with Europe!
The people were extremely friendly and hospitable and I felt safe. I only saw one drunkard as everyone tended to drink sensibly.
I was also pleased to see a local man picking up others rubbish from the beach to keep them clean and safe, not that the beaches ever got as filthy as they do in Margate many of the tourist and locals here don’t know respect for the environment.
The island did have lots of stray cats and dogs wandering around but they were never aggressive towards anyone or each other.
The overall feeling was relaxing and I particularly enjoyed the evening at the Porto Castello in Perissa on a Monday traditional Greek dancers entertained.

1.	At the hustings meeting held in our King Street office on the 28th. April, George Jones stepped down as Chairman due to ill health and Trevor Shonk was elected by the committee to assume the Chairmanship as from mid February.

As a result, a new committee was voted in with ‘business as usual’ being resumed and members elected were:
Trevor Shonk - Chairman
Jean Wisker - Hon. Secretary
Peter Condie - Office Manager
Ann Condie - Office Care & Events
George Jones, Alan Bown, Trevor Cooper, Roz Parker, Richard Warner
and John Poole

2.	The most disturbing aspect on the political scene is that no later than 2010 will be the
disintegration of our geographical area and losing its English status by becoming a fully
integrated part of the Trans Manche Region of the EU. This will be a very sad
period for anyone who considers themselves as being ‘English’ as this will not be
allowed by our new masters.
From then on, England will be progressively subdivided into other Regions of the EU
whereby the name England will disappear and everything we know as English with
it.

      3. At the hustings meeting held on the 28th of April, Trevor Shonk was chosen to be the
the UKIP parliamentary candidate for Thanet South, if you can, please try to convince
your friends to vote for him because with we already have an MEP (Member of the
European Parliament) in the form of the UKIP leader Nigel Farage, what greater strength could we have in Thanet with representation in the London and Brussels parliaments.
Trevor Shonk was born in Ramsgate, is a member of the Ramsgate Society and his work
takes him all over Kent so he knows the local problems.

      4. Have you noticed a lack of any anti-EU information on the BBC lately with UKIP, the
Anti-War movement and the Green Party especially being stifled. The BBC’s charter
was drawn up to prevent such things and even Media Lens, the UK based media watch
project, thinks the BBC has breached its Charter. They think the whole media functions
as a propaganda system for elite interests and even John Pilger, the well known writer and
In fact, on the evening of Thursday 29th May we are holding a discussion evening when members and friends are warmly invited to talk on any subject they wish and it will also serve as a ‘getting to know you’ opportunity. tea/coffee will be available to wet the whistles, starting at 7.00 p.m. up until 10.00 p.m.

Evil killer John Bowden, 51, who in 1980, with two accomplices, lured park keeper Donald Ryan, aged 49, to a flat to rob him. While he was still alive they mutilated Mr Ryan using a handsaw, an electric carving knife and a machete. He was then beheaded. During the trial the judge, Mr Justice Mars-Jones, said: ‘There was never a more terrible case of murder than this one.’ Bowden was ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years in prison for the murder.
In 1992 he went on the run from Maidstone prison during a compassionate visit to his sick father. He also held a prison boss hostage for 29-hours in Parkhurst jail on the Isle of Wight.
When recaptured he was transferred to Scotland, where he was held at a number of jails before being transferred to Noranside an open prison in Angus in 2007.
Police said that Bowden was being tested in ‘open condition’ (WHY) when he failed to return to the prison on Thursday. He was last seen in Castle Street in the nearby town of Forfar.
This man was clearly dangerous and evil with no respect for human life. Why was he being tested in open conditions.

I would like to thank Mr Grant for bringing this to our notice and ITN and Orange News reports for providing greater detail.

Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that’s fine
But don’t say you’re English, that’s way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such
They must not teach children about England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away over the sea
We’re the English from England, let’s all be proud
Stand up and be counted- Shout it out loud.

Around the UK many councils will be having a local election today 1st May 2008. I’m not sure how well UKIP will do in these boroughs and I suspect the success will depend very much on the size of the team of volunteers and how well they have marketed their candidate but whatever the results please take time to look at the UKIP Local Manifesto 2008, www.ukip.org/ukip/

The Local manifesto is good covering Local Taxation, Immigration and much more. I’m going to pick out three points that I like the sound of or not as is the third point.

1.	Local Taxes.
It is believed by the financial experts within UKIP that a cut in bureaucracy of just 10% would produced a cut in rates of 40%. I know that sounds hard to believe but the revenue received from the rates is approximately a quarter of its revenue.
2.	Immigration.
Introduce proper border controls so we know who is in this country at all times.
Under Labour and the Tories there is no restriction on EU citizens coming into this country. All nations should be treated equally the same and that does mean open the borders but closing them. Assessing all individuals wishing to come here and treating equally. If the individual has been in the British armed services fight along side our soldiers then they have a right to be here. Lets exercise control fairly and tight. This small island of ours has not got the space.
3.	Energy and the Environment.
Nuclear Power Station construction; sorry UKIP I still cannot support this. I saw an interesting program that cover the environment around Doonray and I apologise to you purist out there if the spelling is wrong, I will not be checking it. Around the coast 20 miles either side the beaches have radioactive waste on them. It is possible that other beaches are also polluted. But this is not acceptable. The problems are always covered up for many years and I cannot be party to this madness.

The Thanet Council

If we look in the dictionary, a traditional English dictionary, and not a EU new speak dictionary, the word blight is described as a disease effecting plants; An environmental condition such as air pollution effecting or killing plant and animals; Something that withers hopes and ambitions and impairs growth or halts prosperity.
Well look at Britain today the large majority of us have less available income. Look at Northdown Road business closures. The Antique shop next to Sandwiches; Padgets; Coastal Card; Paynes; Hot Café and Giuseppe’s all closed. EDJ Greengrocer, the last green grocer, is moving to Nash Farm and I think that will prove to be a successful for them. I hear the Albion bookshop is going to close. There was a bakers shop there too whose name I can’t remember.
So what is this disease that is killing Thanet’s business. Well the approval of Westwood Cross was clearly a fool’s agreement made by a council of Tories and Labour that failed to consider the effects of the three towns.
Sorry people but I am sickened at the continuous death of Thanet and sadden knowing that Thousands of you voters will be voting for the same old same old Tory, Labour destruction.
I even more sickened to think even more of you want even bother to vote at all. It wont be too long before we have an election and yes UKIP wont have all the answers but they do offer a change they do offer another choice. Fight for this country. Fight for your towns. Fight for your freedom this may be you last chance to make a stand!
LABOUR, TORY OUT! OUT! OUT!
Fatigue has caught up with me and it is time for family.

I am aware that the building is in a poor state of repair as mentioned in this weeks Adscene; I too believe it to be the responsiblity of the previous users to put it back in order.
But the people in Thanet are crying out for entertainment, we are supposed to be a tourist area, lets give the youth some alternatives to football!

The silliest headline has to be the arrest of three illegal immigrants who were caught trying to leave the UK leaving Dover for France. The Daily Mail 7th March 2008. A Home Office spokesman said “the men were taken to a holding room to be processed”. Does that mean they will have all the benefits explained to them; put up in some comfortable accommodation; given a car to enable them to look for work and persuaded to stay? The spokesman also reported that The Borders and Immigration Agency is successfully removing record numbers of people from the UK. I do wonder how many of the 64,000 people removed in 2006 were from Europe? Zero no doubt! If we going to control our borders we treat all Nations equally and allow only genuine refugees in who go through a rigorous control and evaluation process. With so little green belt left we should not be looking to bring thousands upon thousands of eastern migrants into this country. It is bad for the economy; bad for the environment and costing the NHS; Education and the Police a fortune. (See previously, The Cost Of Immigration, on this Web site).

The other shock headline is the fact that Britain is sending £28million a year in Child Benefit to Eastern European. The Daily Mail 8th March 2008. This will now be more as the money received for a parents first born has gone up. Surely that £28million could be better spent in the UK on some of our 3.8million children officially living in poverty.

With all three main political parties seeking the break up of the UK and the total meltdown of national identities, is it not about time they came out and spoke openly about it?
