HEROES

So do we need Heroes today?

When I was a child the majority of films of the day were Westerns or World War 2 films. The Hero of the day was often John Wayne and Good would always overcome evil. In today’s films good still prevails but in the Western and WW2 films it appear to me as a celebration of success over evil where today we are looking for the hero to deliver us. We have Harry Potter and Lord of the rings. There are Sci-Fi epics such as X-men, Spiderman Superman and the Fantastic Four but in all these the futuristic films the theme gives me the impression of needing a hero.

So do we need heroes today? Who are the heroes of today? Well at my place of work I would have to nominate Rose who has never had a day of sick since the firm first opened here in Thanet over 7 years ago while part time temps frequently go seek ort fail to turn up. I should boast I have not been of sick either but my 3 years doesn’t compare.

Many of today’s movies and TV series cover the theme of corrupt governments. Breakout, the innocent man is locked up for crime he didn’t commit. Conspiracy Theory staring Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts with the CIA cast as mendacious and malicious characters. V for Vendetta a 1984 style film with government spin, detention without trial and as the west do today, scaring the nations with threats of terror requiring clampdown.

We here in the UK live in an Open Society as does America and Europe and the principle of an Open Society is its ability to change and evolve its thinking for the progress of the state it serves and its people. However it is no good just being an Open Society a state needs to be a Balanced Open Society where the freedoms that we have are kept in check with sensible controls freedoms that are controlled but not removed by appropriate laws and principles. In the UK and Europe Laws and directives have become excessive and peoples freedoms are being choked to death.

My message to everyone is to look at what is happening in today’s world and ask.
Is it right and fair what we are seeing?
Can we change and evolve to be better nations and better people?
What changes can we make?
Well firstly you can join the debt and get involved, your opinions need to be heard. Being in politics is not the end of ones life you can still go to the pub the shops the gym or partake in whatever pastime you like but join a group of people that want a better Britain and debate. You country needs you!
