Our Island Crater
A letter to the Adscene 28th February 2008
The A256 traffic misery was brought about by council thoughtlessness (Adscence February 21). What amount of money -£6.5 million for a by pass. Don’t forget that our council allowed the nightmare Westwood Cross. This money will not do much to stem the traffic nightmare at Haine. The Council caused the problem. A new road should have been made saving large swathes of green land.
Watching Thanet under threat of being concreted over doesn’t seem to bother them.
Regarding the Christine Tongue film look at Stirling Way- our island concreted over and fields lost for ever. The best agriculture in England and what are we doing to it? These two should be had up for criminal damage to the green belt and the countryside.
What did we gain at Westwood Cross? I’ll tell you an empty town centre in Margate.
This beautiful isle we inherited looks like a crater on the moon.
Thanet Council and Kent County Council are pouring money down drains and haven’t a clue to the needs of the people’s needs on this isle. All our protesting and campaigning is brushed to one side.
We have no policing rubbish not cleared derelict sites and roads left unswept. And museums? With the price of petrol food etc we will need our fields.
Roads to ruin.
