Thoughts on Iraq

by Trevor Cooper

I’ve been reading a couple of books by famous American intellectuals, George Soros’ “The Age of Fallibility” and Noam Chomsky’s “Failed State” and both in their different ways are critical of America. Much of what I have read suggest that the America and the UK are increasing terrorism and threatening world peace and when America and the UK both re-elected our terrorist minister Bush and Blair we as Nations we became failed Nations we should feel ashamed!

Some interesting points raised on the Iraq and the War on Terror.
1. CIA director George Tenet informed Congress that invading Iraq might lead to increased likelihood of Islamic terrorist attacks on America. Or words to that effect.
2. The National Intelligence Council predicted that an American led invasion of Iraq would increase support for political Islam.
3. The NIC also said that conflict zones such as Iraq would become training grounds for terrorist.
4. NIC said that as a result of invasion of Iraq Islamic extremist would spread.
5. A CIA report in May 2005 said “Iraq has become a magnet for Islamic militants.
6. In 2000 75% of Indonesians viewed America favourably since the invasion only 15% still do.
7. 80% of Indonesians fear attacks from the USA.
8. In July 2005 The British Institute of International Affairs study said, “There is no doubt that the invasion of Iraq has given al-Qaida a boost.
9. It also said, “that as Americas closes ally the UK is at particular risk.”
10. Between 1980 and 2003, there was 315 suicide attacks worldwide and for the most part by the Tamil Tigers. Since the invasion estimate of suicide bombings in Iraq alone range as high as 400. These attacks were virtually unknown prior to this.

We must remove our troops from Iraq in a way that is acceptable to the Arab and Muslim world. We must change the way our societies are heading in the interest of world peace In that I mean stop waging war.
As a child I remember the Joke that America is sorry it was late for the first two World Wars but promises to start the 3rd one! and it will be bigger and more devastating than anyone can imagine.
