Policing, The Courts, Education, Facilities For Youth, Role models you can Trust.

a. Policing.
We need to ensure policing is effective and that they respond to incidents. The new community bobby may address these issues. However, I would prefer to see more police with full policing powers. Also the police are tied down with so much red tape that they spend more time doing administration than policing, this needs to be tackled. The police also need to see the courts take action it must be very depressing for a policeman to see hours of hard work wasted as the courts dish out suspended sentences and community service orders.
b. Courts.
Punishment of social disorder is needed too. Many youths are allowed to commit these crimes again and again. If a child commits a crime he needs to receive punishment we do not need to hear that because a child is only 9, as in the case of The Thanet Motor Company October 2006, the law can do nothing. A 9 year old knows what he is doing and should have received a punishment. They would not need to have a criminal record or be placed amongst hardened Criminals they just need to be shown that crime does not pay.
c. Education.
Appropriate behaviour within schools needs to be taught. Schools should give less reward to the naughty child who has a good day and give more to the children who are always behaving well. My children have discussed the possibility of behaving badly to receive the rewards the disruptive child receives. Children can see injustice lets get it right. I heard a story recently where a child was sent home for racism. The mother asked what had he done and the boy replied I don’t want to sit next to the black girl. When asked why the boy said because she calls me freckle face! He couldn’t pronounce here name so he described her.
d. Facilities For youth.
We do need more facilities for occupying the youths of Thanet. That aside there is still plenty going on. The Christian Centre has a youth club at the end of St Peters Foot Path. Margate football club run football in Dane park. We have swimming at Hartsdown and in Zion Place we are producing some of the best Tae-Kwon-Do fighters in the world.
e. Role Models.
I would like to see a Government that I feel I could trust. Few politicians appear to me to be honest. Most of them Tory or Labour go to the same universities and learn how to spin, a word I translate into lie and it again appears to me they are merely in it for themselves. To me a politician should be serving his community all they do is serve themselves.
